JSC Freight One Invested over RUB 800 Million into Washing and Steaming Station in Orsk
Joint Stock Company Freight One (JSC Freight One) commissioned after a major renovation the washing and steaming station (WSS) Nikel on March 19, 2019. Putting into operation of new operating facilities provided for another 78 working places.
“Nikel WSS is the only specialized facility in South Urals Railway that is engaged in pre-paration of the tank railcars for transportation of oil and oil products and repairing the tank cars. The facility was built in the middle of the last century and needed a substantial renovation. We analyzed the best practices applied at washing and steaming stations of Russia and performed a complete overhaul and upgrade of the enterprise. In particular, we implemented a new electronic system for railcar cleaning, which system allowed de-creasing the negative environmental impact by almost 6 times and increased the pro-duction efficiency by 1.5 times,” informed Alexander Sapronov, CEO of JSC Freight One.
Presently the production facilities of Nikel WSS allow processing of up to 310 tank cars a day.
“JSC Freight One continued preparation of the railcars at WSS Nikel during the renovation works. It was necessary for supporting continuous process cycle of oil refineries and the economy of the region in general. We are of the opinion that new facilities of the washing and steaming station would allow the oil refineries of the Urals not only fulfilling their correspondent production plans but also increasing the production capacities,” pointed out Sergei Balykin, First Vice-Governor of Orenburg Region.
A roofed station for preparation and inspection of the rolling stock for 72 tank cars and the station of current setoff repairs with the capa30 railcars were constructed at the facility, and the closed-in system of wastewater management was installed. Besides, it was envisaged the automated technological process control system that allowed decreasing the time of staying of the employees on the railway overpasses by 2 times while preparing the tank cars for transportation of oil and oil products.

The washing and steaming station Nikel is the largest specialized facility providing for preparation of the tank railcars for loading with oil and oil products in South Urals. The WSS has been under the control of JSC Freight One since 2009.
