Railroad cars will hold more grain: Freight One proposed a new solution for exporters
Freight One has begun to provide grain shippers in the Far East with covered cars of larger cubic capacity for sending products abroad through border checkpoints. This has allowed exporters to increase their loading volumes despite the current restrictions on the part of China on the acceptance of goods transported by road and in covered railroad cars with manual unloading.
“The situation with the delivery of goods to China has created additional difficulties for shippers. We have tried to help our existing clients, as well as companies that have previously delivered their products by road. Our branch has offered our partners to transport products in big bags (note: special bags for the transportation of bulk products). This transportation option allows railroad cars to be unloaded by mechanical means. In addition, in February we began to provide our partners with covered cars of larger capacity, to which a larger number of big bags with grain can be placed at a time. It is more convenient for consignees to unload the rolling stock of such capacity by mechanical means,” Gennady Orlov, Deputy Director for Commerce of Freight One's Vladivostok branch, commented.
Due to the set of measures taken, 5.4 thousand tons were loaded for export into Freight One's covered cars at the Far Eastern Railroad site in January and February, which is 4 times as much as the same indicator of the previous year.
