The Freight One has saved almost 60 million rubles on the repair of cars thanks to IT technologies
The Freight One (Freight One), as part of the implementation of the repair strategy, has introduced a digital tool to optimize the costs of repairing the cars. The operator will reduce the cost of work and accelerate the delivery of high-quality rolling stock to customers due to its point distribution in the depot online.
"The cost of repairing the cars consists of many parameters. This is not only the price of parts and works. This also includes the supply/cleaning of rolling stock, its relocation to and from the repair facility for loading. Of course, we calculated the ways to save money, however, all the work was carried out in a semi-manual mode. It took a lot of time and it was not always possible to avoid inaccuracies related to the human factor. Then it was decided to digitize this process. The developed program analyzes the information using formulas and provides a detailed list: how many and what types of cars, from which stations, by which route and to which car repair company (CRC) it is most profitable to send. In addition, it calculates the losses during this sending. As a result, both we and the customers who get a high-quality fleet faster win," said Mikhail Rubtsov, Deputy General Director of the Freight One for Technical Development.
In one calculation, the service considers about 700 thousand options for distributing the volume of repairs simultaneously across all types of rolling stock. The repair plan is generated based on the lowest costs for each chain "unloading-repair-loading". According to the results of 2020, the savings on the repair of cars thanks to the digital solution amounted to more than 56.7 million rubles.
Not so long ago, a separate wheel repair unit was added to the system. Now the Freight One specialists track the cost of their repair. In the near future, we plan to integrate the service into the general IT system of the Freight One, so that all employees of the company can use its calculations. This will allow the specialists of the commercial and dispatching unit to adjust their work. One of the important directions will be the distribution of pre-repair cars for loading in regions with a low rate for carrying out work.
